Job Summary:
Conduct chemical analysis of blood, urine and spinal fluid to determine the presence of normal & abnormal components; analyze biological material for chemical content or reaction; analyze laboratory findings to check accuracy of results; confer with physician/pathologist concerning test results. Operate, calibrate & maintain all the equipment used in conducting scientific, quantitative & qualitative analyses; establish & maintain programs to ensure the accuracy of analyses. Develop, standardize, evaluate & modify procedures, techniques & tests used in conducting the various analyses. Degree in medical technology required. 7a.m.-3 p.m.

Job Summary:
Effectively manage the daily activities of an established courier route for the Lab. This position will be responsible for all logistics requirements and expectations for picking up specimens, delivering reports and supplies for specified Long Island Pathology clients.

Summary of essential job functions:
ARROW> Pick up specimens from established clients
ARROW> Drop off reports to specific clients
ARROW> Pack and deliver supplies to specific clients
ARROW> Where indicated meet timed stop requirements
ARROW> Ensure the integrity of samples which have special
   packing/handling requirements
ARROW> Return to the Labs to drop off samples at the designed time
ARROW> Completely and accurately fill out route sheets and turn
   in to Supervisor daily
ARROW> Confirm sample count with accessioning and
   obtain signature

Minimum Requirements:
ARROW> Valid State driver's license with clean DMV/Abstract
   driving record *
ARROW> High School degree or equivalent
ARROW> 1-3 years driving experience*
ARROW> Ability to lift 35 pounds; ability to climb stairs
ARROW> Adhere to departmental and company code of grooming
   and wearing company issued uniforms

Job Summary:
The Lab Aide is responsible for supporting the Histology department with all clerical and ancillary duties in keeping all equipment ready to run for patient output. While maintaining job functions, the histology Lab Aide is to progress in their learning of the regulations (CLIA, CAP).

Lab Aide duties include, but are not limited to, performing equipment maintenance, Laboratory inventory, ordering supplies, receiving and unpacking packages, and other technical procedures performed in the Lab such as formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue macro-dissection, fresh frozen tissue chipping, and RNA or DNA extractions. Molecular Lab Assistants support Histology Technicians and Histology Technologists. This position works under the direction of the supervisor and follows standard Laboratory procedures and policies.

Summary of essential job functions:
ARROW> Handles, prepares, and uploads stainers; conducts
   dehydrating and cover slips slides utilizing manual
   or automatic systems
ARROW> Prepares, cleans, sterilizes, maintains, and shuts down
   Laboratory equipment & accessories, glassware, and
   instruments used in research experiments, daily and
   weekly as required
ARROW> Preps stainers with bulk fluids
ARROW> Responsible for filing, tracking, retrieval, and accurate
   record keeping
ARROW> Receives product and registers bulk items
ARROW> Maintains diagnostic viability of all specimens and ensures
   correct patient labeling of all materials. Routinely checks
   and verifies that surgical case numbers match blocks and
   slides; prints Labels as appropriate
ARROW> Records in Laboratory logbooks all slides and stains
   prepared. Logs appropriate information into the surgical
   pathology computer system. Verifies match of surgical
   case number
ARROW> Responsible for Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC)
   charts for all Laboratory equipment
ARROW> Maintains Supply Inventory, including package receiving and
   supply chain requests, and submitting orders to Purchasing
   department, in accordance with established policies
   and procedures
ARROW> Assists as needed to perform other related duties and special
   projects to support Histology Technicians and/or Histology
   Technologists as required
ARROW> Accepts other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements:
ARROW> Demonstrated skills in technical data interpretation and
   ability to troubleshoot
ARROW> Demonstrated ability to take and follow direction and
   to know who the resources are for their direction
ARROW> Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word,
   Excel, Outlook, and general working knowledge of

Education, Certification/Licensure Requirements:

Histotechnicians are responsible for preparing tissue specimens for pathological examination; helping maintain laboratory equipment; training in the use of new laboratory equipment; performing routine histology/cytology procedures; preparing solutions required for any histological examination; plus all related job duties as assigned. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Summary of essential job functions:
Day to day Histology/Cytology functions (slide preparation) for Histology/Cytology laboratory including but not limited to:

ARROW> Prepares and maintains reagents and equipment
ARROW> Processes and embeds, and cuts tissues
ARROW> Performs routine, special, and immunohistochemical staining
ARROW> Maintains procedures and records to meet all regulatory
ARROW> Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
ARROW> Assure appropriate specimen accessioning and labeling
ARROW> Maintain the integrity of the specimen and patient
ARROW> Demonstrates the ability to accurately prioritize and triage
   specimens, handles and disposes of specimens and chemical
   waste based on the laboratory’s procedure manual, and
   ensures compliance with regulatory policies

ARROW> Performs other duties as necessary for efficient operation
   of the department

Education, Certification/Licensure, and/or Experience:
ARROW> Associates degree in Histology, or related discipline required
ARROW> NYS Certified Histological Technician, Clinical Laboratory
   Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technologist Licensure
ARROW> One year experience in Histology laboratory preferred,
   new graduates will be considered as well
